Above: The back of our house. We're about 1/2 mile from the edge of the village. It's weird to think that hundreds upon hundreds of miles of wilderness is half a mile from our backyard!
Below: This is the view from our street...our next door neighbors have a girl about Ruthie's age. We are praying for open doors to minister and share the Gospel with her.

Below: This road is the connecting road from "New Town" and "Old Town." We live in New Town...NT has houses in the trees while the houses in OT are near the Yukon and not so crowded with trees. When we need a break due to claustrophobia we go to our teammates house to look across the river...we're not used to being closed in among the trees like we are. This road also would take us five miles the other way (where the road stops) to the dump.

The airport runway is on the Old Town side.
Sidenote: A friend from church told us about a bear breaking into their house. They live 1/2 mile from us on the edge of town...anyway, this bear was eating their chicken remains and then proceeded in breaking into their screen door. Thankfully she had closed the main door. She said they were watching television and didn't know the bear was getting into their house until they heard a shot. Their neighbors killed the bear and butchered it. Another bear was killed in Old Town near the Post Office that same day. Apparently a third bear is still getting into people's houses so it will probably be shot soon. A lot of bears have been breaking into smokehouses around the village as well. We can't wait for hibernation to begin! :)

Below: This road goes behind the main road and leads to our house...I ran on this road during my three-mile race.
Below: Some people have asked about how we insulate our pipes in the winter. Below you can see how thick the insulation is.
Below: It's crazy that it's not even September and a majority of the trees here are already turning colors!
