We took a trip to Fairbanks last week to do grocery shopping for the winter months. We attempted to buy food for a whole year...we'll see how it goes. It was a blessing to fly with a missionary pilot who happened to be coming through our village...we saved $1200 by going with him rather than the small airline that flies here!
Below: Poor girls. I wasn't very organized and didn't bring activities for the girls, so they entertained themselves with suckers and Alaska maps.

Below: The Lord also blessed us with a free living space during our time there. Super 8 was charging $150/night and that was a "cheap" rate. Brad randomly called churches and the first church he called offered to let us stay at their church for the week. What a blessing! We had a room to sleep in and a separate room to organize our food/supplies. The girls also enjoyed sleeping on the ground.
My favorite city treat: Ice cream!
One night we came to the church and noticed several police cars and state troopers right next to the church parking lot. We googled what could have happened and found out there was a deadly shooting that occurred right before we got there. The man fled but later turned himself in...sadly the other man died of his gunshot wounds in the hospital. We thank the Lord for protecting us since the murder happened about 100 yards from the church.
Below: This crate (hopefully) contains a year's worth of food and supplies.
The girls were taking pictures and I liked this one in black/white.
Our beauties!
