Iditarod 2012 ~

Brad spent a few days in a village downriver. He ended up helping out with the Iditarod the whole time. He didn't get much sleep. He and Greg (also there to help) stayed in the gym and were up all throughout the night with the mushers who came through.
Brad spent the weekend checking in mushers, how many dogs they had, the time, etc. He also gave teams their straw, dog feed and food bags (the mushers had flown those into each village/check point beforehand).

He was able to see John Baker's team, Dallas Seavey's team...as well as Aily Zirkle, Lance Mackey and Martin Buser (he pretty much saw ever Iditarod racer, besides the last ones). Brad said most of the mushers were really friendly.

Below: The girl's missed DeeDee Jonrowe's team so Brad took a lot of pictures of her dogs...the draw for the girls to Jonrowe's team are the pink dog outfits. :)
I thought it was funny that around here we talk as if planes are cars. A recent conversation with my friend goes as such:
Mads: When is Josh picking up Brad?
Theresa: He just left to pick him up.
Mads: I can't wait till he pulls into the airport.
Theresa: It won't take long...about an hour.
It's just interesting that to go anywhere you have to take a plane, but lately I've been treating it like a simple car ride to another town.

As of now we are planning to sign another year lease with our landlord...since we feel we have more to learn about living in the bush we'll stay another year here before heading out to a smaller village. We're still praying the Lord will make it clear to us what village to move to.
