Seventy Degrees Below Zero ~

Align Left
...instead of -70 degrees we could say "100 degrees below freezing." Either way the translation is: COLD!
Some of these pictures might have the girls and I in our winter coats. The reason for this is our toyo stove broke down twice during this -70 degree weather. Our house was freezing cold!
Sunday found the temperature at -58 degrees. Since our car is broke some friends picked us (and our house guest) up for church. Before exiting the house our pastor scared off the moose in the below picture....once the moose was safely away we were then permitted to enter the car and head off to worship.
A comment from a friend's blog about these dangerous temperatures, "One of the painful trials that comes with temperatures like this is that the fuel oil (a main source of energy for heat in many houses) starts to gel...this means that it will not pass through the small copper lines to feed the boilers, toyo stoves and monitors." Hence, what happened at our house.
Our house guest spent the week with us and had to deal with several issues that, hopefully, will encourage him never to get out-of-school suspension again. These issues included: no running water (which means the honey bucket was brough out again), waking up in a very cold room due to the toyo stove breaking down, no use of the oven for meals, having no vehicle to get around town, and two little girls who walk around all day following him and wanting to play. I think he learned his lesson. :)
Brad's cute frostbite scar.
Brad's preaching this Sunday because the pastor is out of town...he's also been busy preparing a lesson for the youth group, and cutting wood with our house guest throughout the week.
Regardless of the temperatures the girls and I really needed to get some fresh air...so we played outside for about 15 minutes in -50 weather. It was refreshing!
The Lord opened doors for Brad to share the Gospel with our guest and we are praying the Gospel will come with power, the Holy Spirit and deep conviction on his life. It's also a good reminder that God is the One who saves.
We got a surprise box in the mail with paints for the girls and green beans for the family. Thanks to our FBI family. :)
