Brad went with some guys moose hunting this past week. He couldn't shoot but the ones who could would share their moose if he helped butcher and haul the meat (it would take half a moose to feed our family for a year).
Above: They saw a bear on their way to the camp. Lou (one of the guys able to shoot) grabbed his gun but didn't get a shot before the bear ran back among the trees. I hear bear sausage is really good so I was disappointed he didn't get to shoot it.

The guys split up into groups but all they saw were cows (female moose). The law says they can only kill bulls (male moose) and it's illegal to kill the cows. Unfortunately they never saw any bulls but plenty of cows.
Below: Jason, Brad's hunting partner the few days they were out.
We're not sure Brad will be able to go out hunting again since he needs to go with someone who can shoot (since he can't hunt for another year due to residency issues). In order to hunt one would need a boat, camping gear, four wheeler, gun, etc. We have the camping gear but not anything else needed. I'm sure someone in our church will share meat with us though.
Below: Their campsite. Jason, who used to work as a chef, made amazing lunches and dinners for the guys. That means Brad brought home a few PBJ's I "slaved over the stove" to make for him! :)
