A Big Dog Party ~

Event: A Dog Party
Birthday Girls: Grandma Shilloy (age: confidential) and Naomi Fox (age: two)
Where: Spring Hill Farm
What to bring: Presents and Silly Hat
What to expect: Fun and Silliness
When: January 15, 2011

The birthday party was based on the book Go Dog. Go! At the end of the book the dogs host a big dog party on top of a tree...they all wear hats.

The birthday girl!

Ruthie: I want to do your hair, Mommy, so you will look pretty.

Mommy: The Lord looks at your heart and not on the outside for beauty.

Ruthie: Mommy? Are you following Christ?

Mommy: Yes.

Ruthie: Oh. Then your hair is beautiful!

Do you like my hat?

No, I do not like your hat.

Grandpa Wally and Grandma Cheryl couldn't make it to the dog party due to bad weather. We REALLY missed them and Ruthie cried that morning because they couldn't come. Below: Nae holds a sign saying we missed them so! We also heard that Grandma had a splendid hat she was planning to sport that day. Sad we missed it!

Below: The dog party tree. Brad helped make the base of the cake.

Do you like my hat?

No, I do not like your hat. Do you like my hat?
No, I do not like your hat.

The birthday girls!

We got Ruthie and Naomi this great book called The Princess and the Kiss. Thanks Tysons for the idea. What a great book...it made me cry the first time I read it. Reminded me of my love story with Brad. :)

I Love My Husband ~

Above: We like drinking chocolate milk in these mugs.

Below: My sister, Brad and I decided to spend a few hours "hiking" in the ditch near my parent's house. I think it took us about three hours, with snow six inches deep and zero degree temperature, to travel six miles.

Below: Hmm...apparently the girls are intrigued by grandma reading from the "Tick & Flea Control" magazine. Maybe she's preparing them for the time we get a dog?

  • Scenario: Mommy is singing to her hearts content until Naomi (her sweet and sensitive daughter) declares rather matter-a-factly, "Please no sing Mama." Hmm...I suppose I should take a hint. :)
  • The girls had colds lately and Naomi was clingy and lethargic all morning. She was sitting on my lap when Brad gave her some cold n' cough medicine. This lethargic and drowsy little girl immediately brightened up and said after taking her medicine, "I like it!"
  • This morning when Brad woke up Ruthie sweetly said, "You're the bestest daddy in the world!" :)
