A Community Event ~

We attended a community event the other night. The girls had fun splashing in the Yukon river and playing "toddler" games with other kids in the village.
After counting, Ruthie and Naomi have over 30 mosquito bites on their bodies. It's almost like the mosquitos know there is fresh blood in the village...OR it's just because their Mommy packed the bug spray on the barge (and the barge hasn't arrived yet). :)
Yesterday I walked to our house to begin cleaning it and on my way back I heard rustling in the trees next to me. I walkie-talkied Brad and said it could be a bear or a wolf (my fear)...he assured me I was safe but I insisted he meet me halfway. Brad said once he turned the corner and saw me, a moose ran right behind me across the road!
During our tire delay I proceeded to walk in the tundra...I might have stepped on cow parsnip (with sandals on) because my toes have blisters all over them, and they itch very badly. Add this to the mosquito frenzy here and I'm one itchy girl!
Back in Fairbanks: While pulling up to our hotel we heard Nae say, "Here's home!"
Back at Fairbanks: We needed to buy frozen food to bring with us on the flight to the village, and the girls were getting a little tired of shopping...Ruthie asked where the "kid section" was (ie. the toy secton). Then she saw a candy store and declared, "Ah, there's the kid section!"
